The Reviews of Ramada Plaza Hotel Guangzhou
pettifog CK:
The hotel advertises as being near the East Guangdong Railways station. That is true, however, it would be impossible to find the hotel without knowing where and, more importantly, risking your life and limb to get to it. Most of the taxi drivers I engaged didn't know its location either. One of the other commenters said that there is no "neighbourhood"...that's true, without a taxi/subway ride there is no place that you would want to hang out out or dine at, other than the hotel.
That being said, the staff is helpful and kind, the rooms modern and great TV channel selection. The Internet was great (it didn't seem to have Chinese censorship blocking out the Tibetan sites) and, once you know where the subway is, it's not too bad, again, if you don't mind crossing 16 lanes of busy traffic to get to it. One other surprise is that there is a swimming pool and a gymnasium.
There are a lot of great hotel deals in Guangzhou, this wouldn't be my first pick but it's certainly comfortable and modern.
Manish:
The hotel, was a sight for sore eyes, pristine condition because it was new! The check in staff were very helpfull, bellboy was nice.
and they also had our friends hong kong visa letter, thank god as we were going to hong kong the next day!
room was spacious, with a nice table, a slouch chair, very new so very clean! from our room we could see through into the bathroom as it had a glass wall, thank god it had a curtain thing.
we decided to go in for a dip almost at night time, water was cold as you would expect at night time, swimming pool is a nice set up, an outdoor one. gym and games room is a good option to have.
Bathroom was really nice, seperate shower so you didnt have to stand in the bathsink to have a shower.
Nice little cafe and restaurant downstairs.
the hotel is built as two buildings then a bridge between them, you can go onto the top bridge/walkway and have a look at the city.
there is nothing wrong with the hotel apart from possibly the location, we didnt wander too much as it didnt seem that friendly to be our on these streets.

This hotel is located right next to Guangzhou East Tian He railway station where all express trains from Hong Kong terminate (though you would have to pass through an underground crossing which is not easy to find if you do not speak Chinese). The hotel is brand new and the pool has not opened yet (expected before the end of 2006). I had a large room with an excellent king bed for less that 700 RMB (approx. 70 Euro) including taxes. Breakfast (included in the rate) was not spectacular but quite enough to start the day. Staff attitude is highly commendable. I'd stay there again.

I don't like this hotel because the staff was not so helpful. Although it's busy during Canton Fair, but they should offer the best service all the time. Though the room was cozy, I don't recommend it.
MR. CARSTEN JENSEN :
Ramada Plaza is new, modern hotel. Lobby is very upscale with marbles and glass elevators. Rooms are clean and modern, not overly big [normal for big city, downtown hotels]. Free intenet access in room. One unique feature is the bathroom had a giant picture window looking into room [between room and bathroom]. I had never seen this before, if you sit in the room you could see everything happening in the bathroom, or if you sit on the toilet you could see the whole room.
Good restaurant for meals and breakfast buffet. Restaurant has a lot of international dishes including Western cooking.

Very new and lovely hotel in the famous Tian He district. Rooms are neat and deliver a fresh feeling. Beds are simply tremendous, bathroom well disigned and amenities surprising for such a low rate. Adorable staff willing to help you anytime.
